Uganda is a great location for growing coffee. The country has rich fertile volcanic soil in the east and west, and lots of rainfall. The three active regions are Mount Elgon in the east, the Rwenzori Mountains in the southwest and West Nile in the northwest. Each region is unique and offers different coffee profiles and production methods. The coffee farms, which are up to 2,300 meters above sea level, enjoy cooler temperatures that result in healthier coffee plants.
The Bugisu region is located on the western slopes of Mount Elgon and is best known for its fruity, wine-like coffee.
