Tanzania is the third largest coffee producer in Africa and produces around one percent of Arabica coffee in the world. Most Arabica coffee from Tanzania is grown both in the Kilimanjaro region and in the southern highlands. The high altitude of Tanzania qualifies almost all of its coffee as Strictly High Grown (SHG). About 400,000 farming families live on coffee and the raw material accounts for around 20 percent of Tanzania’s export earnings.
The coffee area in Kilimanjaro is located on the fertile volcanic slopes of the highest mountain in Africa, in Tanzania. The heights from 1,000 to 1,600 meters above sea level produce one of the world’s best coffee beans. The region enjoys a stable climate and access to rivers, springs and waterways, allowing the Arabica coffee plant to thrive.
Tanzania coffee has a lively and clear, wine-like acidity, with a sharp, rich and strong cedar taste. This fine Tanzania coffee is medium to full body with hints of sweet berry-like fruit and cedar
